Say Goodbye to Pigmentation

We all keep using tons of products to get rid of pigmentation, but the nightmare comes back as soon as we stop using them. Well, wise words by a wise man- “Prevention is better than cure”. And so in here, we are going to discuss how you can prevent pigmentation as well as cure them. Also, before taking on any remedies, understand why it happens:

-Excess melanin (skin pigment) production.
-Acidity( especially in Indians).
-Hormone malfunction.
-Age and skin injuries.
-Tattoo, suntan, tanning lotions, medicine side effects, inflammation.
-Exposure to the sun.
-In cold weather, if you lick your lips and the area around it too often, it can discolor the skin and make it look darker.

Don’t just conceal pigmentation with makeup but control your melanin, and here’s how:
Below given are some of the Preventive methods:

  • Vitamin C can reduce tyrosinase activity which prevents the formation of melanin.
  • If you are using Skin brightening creams to lighten pigmentation, make sure it has the following ingredients:
Glabridin(alicorice extract), kojic acid, vitamin C, grape seed extract, azelaic acid arbutin, curcumin or ninacinamide.
-Acid peels like glycolic acid or salicylic acid can treat dark skin around the mouth but not permanently.
  • Apply apple cider vinegar and lemon juice: time taken by spots to fade: 6-12 months. It can take years if pigmentation lies deep in the skin.
  • Create a paste of turmeric powder and rose water to reduce pigmentation and fine lines/wrinkles. Apply the paste and leave it for 10 min, rinse with warm water.
  • Rub raw potato slices every day over the dark area to reduce the darkening.

To treat a dark patch due to burns:

  • Heat a teaspoon of mustard oil, apply on the patch every day within weeks patch will vanish or,
Take a teaspoon of turmeric powder + one teaspoon yogurt + 2 teaspoon lemon juice. Leave for 20 min, rinse with cool water. Do it daily to see the results. These methods can be used at all external places in the body where you have dark patches, whether the underarm, inner thigh, buttocks, or groin.
Also, start using sunscreen in your daily skin routine even if it is cloudy or winter as UVA and UVB, both rays are quite harmful to the skin if exposed outdoors.

Many of our clients also ask us what cream they should use to get rid of pigmentation. Since most of us have a busy or hectic schedule that it’s hard to do self-care every day with home remedies.
Our personal favourite is, Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré which is a dermatologically tested product, it is a multipurpose formula that cleanses, hydrates, nourishes, and protects the skin. It can be used by all skin types, including those with sensitive skin. It is said to help the skin look and feel more supple, smooth, plump, and very soft. You would find this cream in most of the professional makeup artist’s kits who use it as a moisturizer or primer.

You will notice the pigmentation results by the end of one month provided that you apply it on clean skin twice a day.

You can choose whichever method works best for you. But along with these methods, you need to have a good and nutritious diet as well. We believe that most of you already know how diet plays a vital role in how we look and function.

Also, note that following any of these methods would not give you instant results. You need to be patient and believe in whatever method you are using.

You may contact us if you need further insights into the same.
